New Financial World

On a cold saturday morning , I attended a seminar called "NFW". I was skeptical about attending it as I had to sacrifice my sleep but the fact that I had paid 50 pounds for it made me overcome the lethargic feelings. I reached just in time for it as the first speaker had just began to introduce himself when I entered the audi(torium). The main goal of the seminar was to discuss the need of a "New Financial World" which can be better equipped to deal with crisis and what should be its main features. Also whether 2013 is the year of triple dip recession or recovery. Like most such seminars topic of discussion evolves around one country which is the union of red(republicans) and blue(democrats) states , officially known as the United States of America. The biggest problem facing the policy makers in US is 'Fiscal Cliff' as the current US Debt to GDP ratio is 103% which is worse than that of European Union (But certain countries within it are in worse condition). If democrats and republicans don't come to a conclusion before 11.59.59 pm 31st December on how to solve burgeoning debt crisis then US is in for another recession which could be caused due to automatic spending cuts and high taxes. So let's hope that the democrats and republican show that United States of America can make a united decision for the country and the world.Even though the deal is reached the chances of recession still exists but its impact can be much lower than otherwise. In global markets , anything which happens in one corner of the world affects the other corner too. On this note , the next big region to be discussed considering the fact that seminar took place in London was obviously the EU. Countries in the European Union are facing a deficit of 4.1% which is much lower than the figure of 8.7% in the US. Like most statistical measure this figure doesn't reflect the true picture as south european economies like Portugal , Ireland , Greece and Spain are struggling to survive. Mosts say the main reason for this debt crisis is that although EU has one central bank and single monetary policy but the fact that it lacks single fiscal policy lead to budgetary problems. Hence, the only way forward is that the head of states agree on a single fiscal policy. Speculators are expecting the economy to be on track by the second half of the year. Moving to the third biggest economy of the world , Japan ,which is suffering from a long term period of slow growth. Although the elections have shown some signs of improvement as the Nikkei has been rallying up since then and also the fact Yen has weakened has helped the exports. But the biggest problem for Japan is deflation. The new government has planned to increase inflation by quantitative easing. Considering that its ties with China and South Korea has reached new lows. It's a tough year ahead but can be exciting for the Japanese economy if the new government delivers on to its promises. China, the manufacturing hub of the world, has experienced seven quarters of slow growth but on the contrary it's industrial production has grown by 10%. Currently Chinese economy is over dependent on exports and have just recovered from the shocks of inflation in 2011. It have to move towards becoming consumer driven economy which means creating domestic demand for its products otherwise it will always be known as one of the emerging markets and not developed. We cannot forget the Middle East for it is source of most of the consumption of natural gas and oil in the world. 2012 will go down in the history of this region of extreme riches as the year of revolutions , popularly known as the Arab Spring. Whether these developments have made the region more volatile or not is hard to tell. But this will certainly lead to the change in attitude of people towards the Arab world. The growth of Islamic Finance in financial centres have forced the banks find ways to correlate global financial system with that of what Arab world think is right. The biggest problem faced by financial institutions are that inside the arab world also various countries have their own interpretations of Islamic finance , hence, same policies can't be used for Dubai and Riyadh. The only solution to this is to deal with it and not waste time complaining about it. Most market experts are excited about 2013 as they are bullish about most economies by the second half at least. BOMBAY AND DELHI

The debate of 'bombay vs delhi' has become a internal part of my life . Frankly speaking , i have got annoyed by this topic because it has led to few heated discussions with few of my good friends. If you take my opinion , surprisingly i have started loving both these cities a lot and actually could not find an answer to a commonly asked question by various people that " DELHI MEIN JYADA MANN LAGTA HAI KI BOMBAY MEIN ?". It generally becomes tough for the people to buy the fact that i love both these cities equally. I completely agree the fact that both these cities are different , but that has been a plus point for me as i get to learn new things . Considering , each and every word i have written above , i would like to make one more observation that both these cities are products of the contribution made by each and every part of INDIA or the BHARAT...as some like to mention it . Thus, i have decided to express my views on how i started to like both these cities by taking the positives and moving on .

'BOMBAY' or should i say 'MUMBAI' to be on the safer side , though i like to old name more and reason is pretty straight forward because it sounds better to me . The reason is pretty simple , my liking for this city developed because i actually never have had an bad experience in this city. Probably there is one more reason that i hated my stay at singapore so much , so at that point which ever Indian city one would have put me into i would have liked it . But the question is how did my liking for the city changed into a life long love for it . Frankly speaking , for those who have stayed in MUMBAI for long , its tough for them to hate the city because no doubt this city is 'LEGENDARY' for sure . Other stuff which changed my liking into a love for the city where newspaper articles , movies and mostly experience of the city. Like most other cities , MUMBAI has its own nicknames given by different groups of people at different times but if had to choose from them , i would select "the city that never sleeps" and "the city of lights". Survival in BOMBAY is not easy for all sets of people, even if the person lives in the slums of DHARAVI or is a hot shot stock broker at DALAL STREET . This made me admire the hard-working nature of this city , it is probably the most hard-working metropolitan in INDIA. We all know that this city is infra-structurally not up to the mark , but the biggest strength of this city has been its 'people'. Right from auto-wallas to any other stranger you interact with in this city , you could feel a sense humility or respect in their eyes for you. The spirit of the people of bombay is just amazing , inspite of being pre-occupied most of the time people still are always eager to help you and it is also one of the safest city for women in the country. Thus i would like to conclude my views about the city by adding one more nickname given to it which i had missed................"the city of dreams"...........................

DELHI a.k.a DILLI - the capital of the ex-mughal empire , the capital of ex-british india and most importantly the capital of INDIA BHARAT HINDUSTAN

After all the praise for Mumbai , the first thought which comes in everyone's mind and it looks surprising to me also , how can i like any other city and that also DELHI........as most people consider it to be completely different from each other in terms of lifestyle etc. , well that's true but it dint stop me to develop a equivalent love for this city too. Unlike MUMBAI , my liking for DELHI has been completely due to my experiences and also unlike MUMBAI , i have had few bad experiences in DELHI initially but all of it can be neglected considering what all i have gained. The exposure i got in the capital has completely changed me.......it has made me a much more confident and efficient in my approach . I met few amazing people who have completely influenced me for the good and this process is on. I think DELHI is a city which teaches you a lot about life and thus , makes you better person if you want to be . It is in DELHI, i got a chance to personally interact with so many people from different backgrounds , thus , enriched my knowledge and cleared my misconceptions . It made me a much more aware citizen of my country and a responsible global citizen. The rich architectural heritage and the delicious food of the city has also always fascinated me.

I think both these cities have a common weakness that instead of learning from each other , they compare and criticise each other . It is important to those local migrants who have benefitted from these two cities to also go back and add some value to their own city , if it would not have been for the strong roots which they had brought with them from their respective home towns , they would not have survived in here . Thus , i would like to conclude by saying that if whole INDIA has contributed in making these two cities a global city........then its now the responsibility of these two cities to reciprocate the same and make our country a DEVELOPED NATION .

it was a very intersting sporting day right from the start ...........with fabianski doing wonders for aresenal , well in a negative sense but still a comic for the neutrals , well this has for the first time made me doubt wenger's ability to select the right person for the right spot n a good show by bayern munich for a deserved win................but highlight of the day for every indian was the wicket taking delivery from our very own bhajji to get morne morkel plump in front of the wicket..........these kind of matches bring back the limelight to this version of the gentlemen's game........any1 initial notion about the ODI series.................n please do watch the hockey world cup..........
